TASTE OF THE WATER

"And David said with longing, 'Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!" - 2Sam 23:15 It is by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit rather than coincidence that this piece coincide with the World Water Day (22nd March). It has been said that water is life and no one can ignore its importance to healthy living in the society. To lose water is to risk death, and if one does not pay attention to the quality of water one takes, disease outbreak such as typhoid or  cholera can set in. Basic science teaches us that water should be colourless, tasteless and odourless; but I am not sure that all water are tasteless, as a mater of fact, I think there is a kind of taste we get from different sources of water, it is not too common to find water without taste, especially in the rural communities. The water in my house refreshes me more because it is different, perhaps the difference is because of taste. Taking a spiritual a...

DEATH IN THE POT

"Then they served it to the men to eat. Now it happened, as they were eating the stew, that they cried out and said, 'Man of God, there is death in the pot!' And they could not eat it." - 2Kings 4:40 When we are faced with hunger and the food before us is poison - would we wait and die of hunger or eat the food and still die? (This is something to ponder on). There was famine in the land, there was nothing to eat, so in trying to be a creative cook someone added a wild vine to the food of ministers, it turned out to be poisonous and they cried for safety. While it would have been advisable for them to ignore the food, but after adding flour to the meal, Elisha insisted that the men be served. In the midst of a famine, where the Word is contaminated and there is something toxic in the spiritual meal being served to the sons of God, we desperately need a neutralising flour so we are not harmed. Many in trying to make the people of God filled with the Word have ser...

WOMB OF PURPOSE

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." - Jer 1:5 Purpose is one of the most important things to discover while on earth, yet purpose is one of the first thing that happen to us even before we were given birth to. Before Jeremiah was formed in the womb - the purpose of his life was already stated out, though it took a couple of years for him to discover. The truth remains that, what he realised he was as a youth, he had already been while in the womb. How could it be that some of us who cried purpose right from the womb, turn out differently or turned out as total strangers to what we were in the womb. As our bodies begin to take form and we mix with the environment, many begin to drift away from the purpose God ordained them for even while in the womb. This life is a quest for purpose, if a man does not realise the role of living for purpose - such a person would turn out to be an acci...

FACING THE LION

"A lion, which is mighty among the beasts and does not turn away from any" - Prov 30:30 Goliath was a kind of lion, fearful in appearance and his voice was like the roaring of the lion - the hearts of the children of Israel fainted, they couldn't see themselves as anything but preys - this Goliath wasn't going to back off. So a shepherd boy heard the roaring, he has killed a lion before - this one would not be an exception, though frightening - he would be killed all the same. The lion is no play mate to any man, it is frightening in appearance and also deadly. The lion exact fear on its prey but doesn't fear any. Among the beast, it is acclaimed to be the king. Do not think that all lions are locked up in a zoo, or somewhere in the forest. We will be faced with some situations that will roar at us, the appearance of such lion will make us tremble, if you retreat, the lion will pursue - and if you dare challenge, then you must be sure of your strength. Thos...
