THE BEST MAN

"He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled." - John 3:29 The above scripture tells of a best man who is greatly excited because of the wedding. The best man in this regard is not the one being joined with the bride, but his joy knows no bound. This may appear a little abnormal, but I believe that there is something the Lord is pointing us to in this matter. John the Baptist was giving an illustration of the best man in order to explain his own duties and his joy. He would have been nothing if the bridegroom didn't come, it is because there is a groom that the best man can attach any importance to himself, and this brought fulfillment to John the Baptist. We also must note first of all that all scriptures is profitable, we must also see ourselves as the best man when it concerns Jesus. The church of God is the bride o...

ALONE WITH HER

"And she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death." - Prov 7:26-27 Though it appears harmless and it really seems that there is nothing attached, you let down your guard because she is a 'sister' - you let down discernment, and you don't think there is something in you to protect - the enemy's plot is beginning to gain ground. A harmless hug, a nude picture sent, a careless joke been traded into your mind, you didn't realise early enough that those are slips and snares - you are carried away by senses of emotions - you have landed on your back. If it was just on the bed you landed it may be good - but you have just fallen from grace - you have become one of the strong men that have fallen. The matter of sexual sin is a matter of two people who have decided to be instruments in the hand of the devil. It doesn't matter who is tempting who, if one temp...

BLESSED ARE THE HUNGRY

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled." - Matt 5:6 It may not really be reasonable to see the blessing in hunger, but for that which will satisfy the spirit man - there has to be a hunger. When a man is not hungry feeding may be a task, when a man is not hungry especially as regards the things of the spirit, he loathes the bread of life, when a man refuses to be hungry for righteousness, he will be well fed in the body but malnourished in the spirit. If the church is seen as a time of leisure then we can accurately deduce that there is no hunger, if worship is more of an acting than an experience, then hunger is absent, to be hungry for righteousness is to possess an undeniable and obsess desire for God, it is to embark on a quest to know God beyond the surface and to strive for a filling. The truth is that, in this spiritual race - hungry men are men full of the spirit, those who are hungry are knowledgeable, those who are...

BEYOND THE WRITTEN, ABOVE THE LEARNED

"Now all the king's wise men came, but they could not read  the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation." - Dan 5:8 The opening text is about the writing on the wall that king Belshazzar saw while he was having a feast, he trembled at such occurrence and was so worried because he didn't understand the writing, it became worse when all his advisers and magicians couldn't read what was written. All their degree, their experience and vast exposure counted for nothing at that point. This writing was beyond the educated, the hand was only revealed, maybe if the hand had a face, they could have traced the person's origin to learn their letters. The king was at a loss. It is normal that whatever that is written should be read, except if it is a child who doesn't know anything. But this writing on the wall that looked very deliberate did not have a reader. We are in an era where theological knowledge is fast increasing and many are boasting, thin...

CELEBRATING HIS SALVATION

"Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, and gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from south." - Psalm 107:2-3 At a time like this when we have best moments and the world celebrates achievements from different walks of life, I am strongly inspired this day to celebrate the gift of salvation, I do not think that there is anything greater than this that can happen to a man; the greatest event that ever happened to mankind was the resurrection of Christ, but the greatest thing that will happen to a man personally is encountering and receiving the Lord as his personal saviour. I didn't give my life to Christ on this day, but I just have to celebrate what has become of a person condemned to death. If by any chance there be something good, divine or something called grace, it is all because Christ is living inside of me, if by any chance I know the meaning of redemption, it is definitely...

HE CAN KEEP YOU STANDING

"as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue." - 2Pet 1:3 Everything you need to make sure you don't fall has been provided for through the knowledge of Christ, the Lord is more interested in your standing than the devil is in your falling - God has invested so much in you that He considers it a loss to the kingdom if you fall, so He Himself makes provision more than the devil can set traps. There are many lifelines the believer can use so that he is not out of the Christian race, if the lifelines are not used, no one will be blamed for being out, unlike the console game where lifelines are exhausted and one has to start afresh - the mercy and the provisions for godliness is inexhaustible - if and when temptations come, there are enough provisions to overcome. If we are honest Christians and deal with temptations as they are, we will never stumble - the scripture...

BE CONSIDERATE TO ANOTHER

"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." - Phil 2:3-4 We live in an increasingly selfish world, where everyone wants to live for himself only. When a consensus does not favour us, we may tend to become opposed to it, when we realise that someone is better, we may become envious - there is little or no sacrifice on our part in other to accommodate other people's diversity or difference - this is mostly the bane of our society today. You cannot live in this world all by yourself, and you cannot be a happy person if all that motivates your pursuit in life is envy and jealousy. Sometimes we tend not to just be happy for the next person, we look for faults and somehow try to be brutal in our assessment of them. This is not the kingdom system Jesus has called us unto, we are to look out for one...

BEYOND THE DISTANCE

"The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth." - Psalm 145:18 There are so many who think that distance is a factor when it comes to dealing with God; sometimes distance may be placed there in our minds, and sometimes it is placed there by tradition of religious activities. One would wonder how far God can be, when He is virtually in the consciousness of every created being. How close can He be, when our mouths can communicate to Him and we get quick response. The Lord cannot be restricted by distance, distance is no barrier to the LORD - He is Omnipresent. It is true that sometimes a person could be far from God, but God can not be far from anyone who wants Him, there is no where you can hide from His spirit, even the night is as day unto the Lord; the distance you have created has to be closed again, you need to know that God is as close as you need Him to be. There would be times when we have an emergency and we think God can only app...

WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?

"For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." - Rom 8:6-7 Permit me to use this title that is probably more popular on the social media site Facebook. The matter of what is on your mind is of great importance, and I think Facebook recognises that too... A man cannot be detached from his mind. If a man loses his mind, it will definitely be a mental case, so permit us to dwell on this a little bit today. You are responsible for how your mind works, your mind is the core of your soul or personality; when the mind is healthy, a person can be said to make sound decisions, but when the mind is unhealthy many wrong things happen. A mind that is carnal cannot be said to be healthy, in fact, it brings death to the existence and personality of the man. If your mind is spiritually ok, then we are confident that you will be relevant both t...

AUTHOR & FINISHER

"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Heb 12:2 Everything the believer will become is not outside the script of what Jesus wrote and finished. God planned man's redemption and every of the believer's walk on this earth and even beyond cannot be outside the scripted life of Jesus. He is the Author and finisher; yet He is the main character in our walk of faith. The believer who looks to God to have a beautiful story has chosen the right part and will walk in the right path. We may feel like we are the authors writing the script of our lives, but we get to certain points where we understand that the pen has to be off our hands - that is the time we encounter Jesus and we surrender to Him to write the beautiful story. There are people who have always chosen what they want to be and how their lives will go; bu...
