TREMBLING DEMONS

"You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe - and tremble!" - James 2:19

I'm afraid that the opposite of this verse seem to be the case for us in the faith now. We believe that there are demons and we tremble and pray not to be at their mercy. Most Christians are always afraid of what demons can do, the Christian do well to know that they exist, yet doesn't just tremble but becomes defensive. Most of the prayer is to defend ourselves from demons and not to even destroy their works.

How powerful are the demons from your father's house that you have refused to go home in a long while, how effective have your prayers been since evil has not ended in your affairs. Many have made demons more powerful than they really are, many have made demons responsible for their bad conditions.

Demons are satanic agents or evil spirits that exist to cause destructive schemes in general. While every thing that goes wrong may not be the fault of demons, it will also be wrong to say that their are not existing. To feign ignorance on this matter may mean that you have become so powerful spiritually that demons are so insignificant or you are so naive and under the oppression of demons.

Another thing that may be of concern to this writer is that, demons do not exist in isolation, the human vessel have always been their medium to operate and cause evil to prevail, sometimes it may be known by permission and at other times, it happens involuntarily. Whichever way the case maybe, I believe that the landlord or the one who grants demons permission to stay within becomes demonic.

This article is not to celebrate the existence of demons as that does not add anything to the believer, but the article is to bring the child of God to the consciousness of his dominion over the forces of darkness.

WHO ARE YOU?
"Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, 'Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?'" - Acts 19:14-15

It may interest you to know this day, that the identity of a true believer is never in doubt to those who carry evil spirits inside of them. They tremble before the child of God who is aware of his position and authority in Christ, but when the identity of the believer is in doubt or when the believer has compromised, the demons or those possessed with evil spirits become less fearful.

It is where there is no light that evil spirits hold sway, it is in the life of sin, that the works of darkness find their haven, but when a person is full of light and has had an encounter with the power of God, all demons know that they have to keep off such a territory or the person in question.

For the demons to have the courage to ask for an identity at all, means that something is wrong with the believer. A policeman is not often asked of his identity, the uniform makes it obvious and he may be asked only by a superior force. This may also apply for the believer, if you are totally equipped in the full armor, the evil spirits know their place.

"Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, saying, 'Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are - the Holy One of God!'" - Mark 1:23-24

Even before Peter got the revelation of the true identity of Jesus, demons were already being tormented by the mere appearance of Jesus. They recognised Him as the Holy One of God. The truth is you don't need to announce yourself, you only need to walk in authority and the evil spirits or demons recognises you and they flee.

Where demonic powers thrive, spirituality is deficient, when spirituality wanes, carnality reigns. If the Christian isn't powerful, oppression of the devil will hold sway. When I talk about being powerful, I am talking about those who are empowered by the Holy Spirit, who by His directives makes the demons tremble.

Let me state clearly that, the life of the true believer is naturally offensive to the powers of darkness, the believer may not even care about the existence of demons; but the prayer, evangelism, righteous works of the believer destabilises the affairs of the power of darkness, and such should be your case.

POWER OVER DEMONS
"Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases." - Luke 9:1

Let it be known that there are powers and there are powers; there are powers to overthrow existing powers. Normally the power of darkness rules the earth until the one whom Christ lives in comes into the picture. Christ is committed to giving power to the believer over demons, but many are not worthy. The ones Christ gives power to, are His disciples and not just followers from afar.

Just as humans are the medium of demonic activities, humans are also the mediums of spiritual power over demons; and if the Christian is not possessed with power over these demons, the demons will deal with the believer negatively in no small measure. Power comes in measure for the believer, there was a time the disciples couldn't cast out the demon in a boy, but Jesus did. Jesus later told the disciples of the need of fasting and prayer in order to exercise power over those demons, it therefore shows that, even the demons come in ranks and the believer must step up appropriately to dose off the evil forces.

If the demons or evil spirits are left to themselves, it is evil that will prevail, they don't do good at all, they cause pain, and sorrow to people - they are meant to propagate the gospel of the devil, which is to steal, kill and to destroy. Nothing good comes from allowing them to be, and to disrupt their activity, one must be possessed with power.

"Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, 'Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.'" - Luke 10:17

The Christain who knows the efficacy of the name of Jesus, will trample on the devil effortlessly, the name is powerful to make all knee bow and to cause a trembling in the camp of the wicked. You don't have to run at the slightest of noise, you only need to dominate based on the name of Jesus. He has indeed give us a name above all names.

Many have lost their authority in Jesus because they have broken their consecration, you can't be dealing with fornication and expect that the spirit of fornication departs from another, Jesus says that the devil cannot chase out demons, it is not sensible.

Thanks be to God who causes us to triumph, that is the preferred outcome of any confrontation with demons - triumph! If it ends in defeat, then it is abnormal and not accepted. The power that is in you is greater that any power that is in the world. If only the believer will receive the power through a proper following of Jesus, no force or demonic spirit will stand before him.

AND THEIR LANDLORDS?
"And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not." - Mark 9:18

I am yet to see a demon possessed person who is 'alright', something is always wrong with them, from poverty to lack and to even mental instability - such is the plight of the one who is demon-possessed. They never do well really, they ae bound by the power of sin and there is nothing really profitable about their lives. Even their eternity is utmost disaster.

If we can recall what the evil spirit did to king Saul, we will promptly gain wisdom from what this demons do to their landlords. A man who is meant for the throne will suddenly start acting irrational, and I wonder how such a man could be fit for the throne. He wasn't in his right senses anymore, this was one of the signs that the throne of Saul was at risk. A man has to be possessed in order to envy a servant under him (David)- this is the case of a demonised man.

It is possible you know that there are some strange spirits working inside of you, it is possible that where the power of God is made manifest you are always tormented, rolling on the floor, screaming and doing all sort of things - and of course it has become an embarrassment. Don't you think it is time to submit yourself to deliverance? No one can amount to anything when he or she is possessed by a demon. Don't let the devil destroy your life.

"And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones." - Mark 5:5

The man of Gadarenes lived in the tomb, where dead bodies dwell, crying and cutting himself with stones, the man was not born that way - this is the work of the devil the master himself, but all hope was not lost, it only took Jesus to appear for the legions of demons to disappear. This can be your case also; your life can progress when you let Jesus deliver you.

One of the mission of Jesus on earth is to lose those who are bound by the devil, how come you are still bound, running errands for the devil, oppressing your family members, and yet you are stuck in the mess of the devil.

Mary Magdalene had a destiny beyond the seven demons that resided inside of her, she was the first to see Jesus after resurrection and of course it showed a life devoted to the Lord.
Maybe you think you are powerful and you revel in delight that people tremble at your sight. It is needful for me to let you know that, you are just a disaster in waiting, God does not intend for it to continue so, He is concerned about the destinies of people you are caging and it will just take a powerful child of God to disgrace and destroy all the work you have done, and at that time your fate is doom.

It is not too late to seek a deliverance, the scripture says in Psalm 66:3, that through the greatness of His power the enemies submit. Why not submit yourself now and resist the devil, Jesus is mighty to save and can even possess you with a mightier power, which is the power of the Holy Ghost.

Remember also what Jesus said in Matthew 12 about the evil spirit that leaves a man, it goes out seeking a resting place and when it doesn't find anywhere to rest, it goes back to its vacant house and if it finds it empty, returns with seven other evil spirit. Some people are perpetual deliverance candidates, year in year out, they 'entertain' the audience rolling and screaming as a result of torments, sometimes they are delivered but they leave themselves empty for re-occupation and they just get worse; this shouldn't be your case.
If the demon leaves you today, make your body the temple of the Holy Ghost and see yourself chase the demon anytime it comes knocking.

CONCLUSION
If you are afraid of demons, you need to engage the power of the Spirit, because power has been given over them, and if you are occupied by a demon; seek deliverance because it doesn't do anything positive to you.

God bless you and I love you
