WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?
"For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." - Rom 8:6-7
Permit me to use this title that is probably more popular on the social media site Facebook. The matter of what is on your mind is of great importance, and I think Facebook recognises that too... A man cannot be detached from his mind. If a man loses his mind, it will definitely be a mental case, so permit us to dwell on this a little bit today.
You are responsible for how your mind works, your mind is the core of your soul or personality; when the mind is healthy, a person can be said to make sound decisions, but when the mind is unhealthy many wrong things happen. A mind that is carnal cannot be said to be healthy, in fact, it brings death to the existence and personality of the man. If your mind is spiritually ok, then we are confident that you will be relevant both to heaven and even dominate the earth.
The whole personality of the man, his disposition and many things are rooted in the state of his mind, if the Lord will affect our minds, our hearts will receive the spiritually things and we would produce life in our collective existence right here on earth. The major challenge we have is that the minds of many are corrupt, darkened, debased and given unto Satan; and the product of this kind of mind is death. I pray that before the carnal mind puts your spiritual life to death, you will do something about your mind.
I would most certainly at this point also like to ask you about the things you have made up your mind on. We often make up our minds based on task ahead and choices, but I need to ask what influenced that mind, before you decided that fornication is based merely on perception, I will like to ask what influenced your mind before you thought homosexuality was natural and normal? The byproduct of our minds are so vital that we can't just let them to be influenced only by text books and social media... To be carnally minded is death.
Carnality of the mind has to do with what pleases the flesh and of course that is always in conflict with what pleases the spirit-man. You need to make up your mind for your mind to be influence by the Spirit and the Word; this is what brings about life and please take note of that.
ALLOW HIS MIND
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men." - Phil 2:5-7
The default mind of the man is totally different from that which is of Christ, the mind that a man possesses naturally is such that boosts the ego and gratify the cravings of the flesh, it is selfish and inordinately ambitious in its goals, that kind of mind would want to exalt itself more than God, and would trample upon people to have its will done. This kind of mind is the reason the world is corrupt and in such mess.
When the scriptures say that; 'let this mind', it means that you are responsible, it means you grant the permission, it means you allow, it is your will to have this mind or not to. A person who loves to have the mind of Jesus will subject himself and his will to the person of Christ. The life of Christ will be the standard for his or her choice in whatever they want to do.
It may be necessary for me to ask you today if you have allowed the mind of Christ to be inside of you, a mind of Christ is the one that shows humility and sees the nothingness of promoting self over the Spirit. The mind of Christ is subject to the Spirit of God. Let this kind of mind be in you.
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things." - Phil 4:8
The things that are of good report, pure, just, lovely and all the beautiful things are basically dependent on how you allow it to be of effect upon you. If your eyes catches them, your mind may choose to process it for your heart, or it may discard such lovely things as junx. You need to give the mind of Christ a chance in your life.
No one will take a carnal mind to heaven, you may say you have control over your mind - yes, but you may not understand the gravity of what such control is doing to you. Are you the one always thinking hate, pride, bitterness and strife - you definitely lack the mind of Christ and until you determine, yes determine to submit your mind for that of Christ, you may be heading for doom.
I know that it is not in everything that we will be forming spirituality, but the output of our dealings, which is a product of what is conceived in our minds should always produce spiritual things. Don't let your mind be made up just yet without Christ in it; let His mind be inside you.
THE MIND HE GAVE YOU
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." - 2Tim 1:7
It is possible that you have been cheated out of what God has already made you to be, there are many people who are operating below the measure God made them to be, and this is just disservice to the power of God at work in the believer. To have the mind of Christ will bring a measure of meekness though, but we must also embrace that such a mind can operate in the high frequency of the heavens. You will understand more than teachers and even the ancient, just because the mind, the sound mind of Christ is now at work in you.
When He says 'let this mind be in you' it means there has to be an exchange of the carnal mind that was once prevalent and supreme in your life. It means there would be a giving up of your thoughts and everything that stimulates your mind unto carnality. Those secular music filled with sexual perverse lyrics and those works of art that produces lust will have to be done away with.
The mind of Christ is so pure that it may sometimes bring a person in conflict with the normal system of the world, but this mind of Christ is indeed unique. I once had a muslim acquaintance who thought my mind was inherited from my parents and that it wasn't the work of the Spirit; he couldn't understand how different I tend to think at times and he concluded that it was inherited from my ancestors. I inherited it by the Spirit but not from my ancestors.
"For 'who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?' But we have the mind of Christ." - 1Cor 2:16
Imagine the kind of mind little Jesus had at twelve, and he amazed the scholars inside the temple, imagine the mind of Christ that does the things only the Father instructs. You must see the beauty of this mind in other to covet it earnestly. How I pray that you see the need to possess this kind of mind, you will willingly and aggressively trade all of your carnal intents.
Having the mind of Christ is a Spirit-filled mind and that surely equals a life of the supernatural, you will no longer be moved by the human senses on spiritual matters, no! You will be moved by the mind of Christ, so that anytime you even make a reference to what is on your mind, it will be Spirit given.
The carnal mind does not have any benefit at all, to all that Jesus is, and for all that He manifest here on earth, our minds have to be switched over totally. If only we we let that His mind, He will let us operate in full measure of His potentials within us.
IT SHOULD BE RENEWED
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." - Rom 12:2
Do not conform appears to me like a pressure and surely, that is exactly what it is, there is serious pressure from the kingdom of the world to sell some garbage to us through its involvement, but just as we take responsibility in accepting the mind of Christ, we also have a responsibility in refusing our minds to be affected by the worthlessness of the world's order or doctrine.
For some who have at a certain time comprehended the measure of Christ love through His grace, they also must subject that same mind to continual renewal by separating from the world. The world has a way of affecting our minds mainly because of the people around who can be more than the people of spiritual like-minds.
There is also a transformation that comes through a renewing of our minds, we renew it by abandoning every other precepts that wants to appear above the precept of God. We must wholeheartedly assess our minds on the level of compliance with the tool of renewal, which is the word of God.
"that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind" - Eph 4:22-23
The reason some appear all out for God today and when they mix with the world for a while they appear cold, is all because they lack renewal of the mind. To be constantly renewed in the mind, one must constantly be in the word and unrepentantly following the leading of the Spirit.
If abortions now seem normal to you today, something you once called wicked, then you need a renewal of mind. If you started becoming indifferent to ungodliness around you and you even have started keeping quiet to the evil ways of the world; then the world has crept in and you need to stay in the word for a renewal.
If your mind is in conflict with what is impressed on your heart then you need a renewed mind. Here is what I mean by that last statement, your heart may tell you Jesus is Lord, but your mind knows someone acting as Lord, and you may want to discard the true perception that Jesus is Lord, then at that point you need to ask the Holy Spirit for illumination in the word so as to have your mind cleared that Jesus is Lord truly.
CONCLUSION
The things on your mind is a major factor of the things about your life, to be carnally minded is death but spiritually minded is life eternal. There is no standing on the fence on this matter, you need to let the mind of Christ be in you, and operate in the full potentials of the mind of Christ, subjecting the mind to the Holy Spirit's renewal.
