LET US PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

"He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own righteousness, it sustained Him." - Isaiah 59:16 If Christians are no longer moved to pray for one another, the onslaught of the enemy against the church will only continue. When we can only learn lesson and not take time out to pray for that backsliding brother, our sheepfold will never be complete. We are members of the same body so that we can help each other out, we must stand in the gap and mention our brethren in our prayers. I'm not talking about 'God bless my friends and family' kind of general prayer here. We must take the need of people's frailties, lack, disappointments and agony to God. If we don't pray for the brethren, our faith will not be secured, there will be blasphemy against God's name when there is ill toward a fellow brother. That man who is going through hard time is our brother, that woman...

MORE THAN WORDS

"And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power." - 1Cor 4:20 Everyone can speak, anyone can learn the scripture, virtually anyone can talk based on his scope of knowledge - but for the word to be impactful, then it must be powerful. Powerful is not the 'hmmms' and 'yees' we hear from the pews, powerful is not in the excitement of the congregation, if the words that come from the altar will not cause us to change and pray...then it is just rhythm to the ears. We are being rocked to sleep from the pulpits these days, I mean spiritual sleep, the man of God is trying to be intelligent, in fact he just bagged another degree in theology and of course his vocabulary and 'depth' has increased - but the only change we see is increase in number and a beautified building, well packaged service and people who look good. The Lord must be good. If the words doesn't cause m...

BEAUTY FOR ASHES

"To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness..." - Isaiah 61:3 There is a general craze in the world today for beauty, one can hardly identify a woman in her original state and when she is fully adorned because of the multiple layers of foundation she has on. We have come to embrace the concept of beauty in its artificial form than beauty in itself. One of Christ's redemptive benefits is to give us beauty for ashes, but I have come to realise that even Christians have decided to embrace ashes for beauty. The male folk is not excluded from this trend, as we are continually deceived and enticed by the  surface of beauty. When did beauty become a facial thing? Could this be what Jesus was talking about when He spoke of beauty for ashes? I'm in no way against makeup, but when the heart is deadly and immoral, why are we so concerned about the looks? This woman who ...

HELP FROM GOD

"Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless." - Psalm 60:11 Man can be the medium of help but man has never been the giver of help. To think of man as your helper is to hope in futility, the help of man wouldn't come without strings attached, the help of man wouldn't come without ulterior motives. You may even have to help a man in order to help you. No one can walk the earth without the need of help, help differs in magnitude as some will be solely on what man can do as it concerns domestic issues; but man would be making a big mistake to seek divine help from his fellow man. We would be greatly disappointed if we keep looking unto man for what only God can do. Those who close their eyes praying, thinking of one relative who has money are actually undermining God's might, those who have bowed down to sons of Beliah seeking help and have compromised their faith will still be disappointed. Cursed is the man who puts his trust in man. God is w...

OIL BUSINESS

"But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'" - Matt 25:9 It is your responsibility to keep your lamps burning, it is your primary responsibility to make sure the oil is available, it is your business to make sure you are not caught unawares and embarrassed because your oil is finished. The foolish virgins lacked discipline and didn't think of a refill. If the oil in Nigeria dries up today, we all know our economy will be in trouble, that is ironically the case in the kingdom. If your oil dries up when it is needed, your foolishness of the dark will spell out in capital letters. It is foolishness to depend on another's anointing to run the kingdom race. God who is the seller of the oil is ever available to sell as the case was with the virgins, but if we will not take the responsibility to buy when necessary, it may become useless when we eventually buy. Y...

TROUBLED HEART?

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me." - John 14:1 The turmoil of a troubled soul or heart will cause more problem than physical conflict. When a person is emotionally downcast and experiencing uncertainty, there is a possibility of a total wreckage to activities around such a person. Nothing unsettles a man more than an uncertain future, not knowing what tomorrow will be or not knowing the outcome of things for sure, when faith seem too illogical or when circumstances seem irresolvable - such a man will have a troubled heart. This is to bring you hope and to help you find succour in times as this, when the whole world around you seem crashing, you may be blinded to the hope ahead but that doesn't mean there's no hope. To believe there is hope is to have a great shot at the solution just ahead. There is hope for you if only you will believe in Him, there is succour for your anxiety if you will do what He ask you to do, you wi...

FALLING FLOWERS

"because 'All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the LORD endures forever.' Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you." - 1Pet 1:24-25 Beauty fades, charm is deceitful, wealth vanishes, fame goes away, death happens, fashion changes, glamour passes, buildings crumble.... And so many more, but only the Word is unchanging. In the midst of an evolving world and ever moving scenes, we are not guaranteed of everything to be constant, man is on a loosed chase, we are going round circles and cycles, yet nothing is guaranteed... There was a time when the priesthood of the family of Eli was known for glamour and glory, they were revered by everyone, the future looked secured, their children had guaranteed jobs of being priest forever, Eli fed fat, his children became proud... But just in one day, the glory changed, the smiles ended, the laughter turned to w...

GOOD MEN, GOOD NEWS

"So the watchman said, 'I think the running of the first is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.'And the king said, 'He is a good man, and comes with good news.'" - 2Sam 18:27 The news a man bear or carry determines his character. No one can separate a man from the news that he reports as the matter will tell of his person. The one who is a talebearer and carries slanderous news about is of a questionable character. I hope your eyes will be open to watch the news you spread, maybe you're found of bringing bad news, maybe it's also not your fault but you only say what you see...yet the Lord wants you to check your life. While we look at you from afar, and approaching the brethren, there is a predefined mental view we have of you... You must as a matter of urgency begin to make conscious effort to bear good news, the things you say must begin to edify, the thought that occupy your mind must be filtered to become good. You are as good as ...

COLD LOVE

"And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." - Matt 24:12 Many waters have quenched our love, many circumstances has made Him question our love, lots of side attraction has made us turn our hearts away from Him. The Lord has measured our love on His thermometer and He says the love has grown cold! We want to love God yet remain lawless, we want to show Him affection but not loyalty, we want to respect His laws yet excuse ourselves from obeying them, under the guise of weakness and the cover of 'grace'. We have deceived ourselves to think we can be lawless and be in love with a righteous God. Never before have we had more expression of love to God the way we have it now, we have coined sweet names for God since we all do not know what Jehovah Elolam means, we have found Jehovah eficee, the God of special effects. Our affection to God has only being a matter of poetic licence and rhymes. Crime everywhere, lust in our hearts, w...

CREEPING THINGS

"For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God our Lord Jesus Christ." - Jude 4 While we weren't alert in the Spirit, the serpent crept in through the garden of our fellowship. When we slumbered spiritually the world crept into the church, when we were heady and neck-stiffed the creeping serpent was sent to kill in the wilderness. How did the church get so worldly and we didn't know, how did evil or unclean spirits find their way into the temple and held sway for long, yet we have mistaken them for godly brethren. They crept in for pollution and we when we know, we couldn't be neutralised from their sting. Brothers and sisters, we are in a time when a lot of things have crept in to the church, we have permitted the devices of the devil because we were ignorant of it. As we know, if there is no drastic measure to eradicate these...

SACRIFICE

"Then Peter began to say to Him, 'See, we have left all and followed You.'" - Matt 10:28 If your Christian walk does not include sacrifice, then you haven't started the Christian faith. While ours will not be in the sacrificing of rams and bulls, the Christian race demands a sacrifice from us and this is the truth. If it has cost you nothing to remain in the faith, then you may have never been in the faith. If it doesn't cost you pleasure, if it doesn't cost you position or your right, then your faith would be questioned. It is in the measure of our sacrifice that our allegiance and love to God will be proved. It is in the height of our sacrifice that we can make a mark for God. Some of these sacrifices will be a test of a better thing to come. It is also possible as it is with Abraham that God will test us based on the things He gave us.. It is clear that God gave you such awesome intellectual ability- yet, if He request for a sacrifice of it, wo...
