COLD LOVE

"And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." - Matt 24:12

Many waters have quenched our love, many circumstances has made Him question our love, lots of side attraction has made us turn our hearts away from Him. The Lord has measured our love on His thermometer and He says the love has grown cold!

We want to love God yet remain lawless, we want to show Him affection but not loyalty, we want to respect His laws yet excuse ourselves from obeying them, under the guise of weakness and the cover of 'grace'. We have deceived ourselves to think we can be lawless and be in love with a righteous God.

Never before have we had more expression of love to God the way we have it now, we have coined sweet names for God since we all do not know what Jehovah Elolam means, we have found Jehovah eficee, the God of special effects. Our affection to God has only being a matter of poetic licence and rhymes.

Crime everywhere, lust in our hearts, wickedness in our acts, pride in our soul, pretence in our worship, lies on our lips as praise, hypocrisy in our appearance as modesty...God doesn't feel our love!

The Lord is trying to feel our love and it is too cold for Him to feel, it is too ordinary for Him to respond, He hears the words yet He only sees our lawlessness, this 'cold love' is not soothing to the Lord!

THE LOVE OF THE FATHER IS NOT
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - 1John 2:15

How so we have set our affection on mere 'things' and we have allowed the things we possess to possess us, we have allowed the things we WANT to possess become our obsession. We want the love of the Father to be in us even as we love these things. But, the Lord will not have any of that.

The love of these 'things' have caused more lawlessness than normal and it continually brings the temperate of our love colder by the day. If a spiritually hot brother or sister approaches a lover of the things of the world, such a person will freeze to death spiritually.

We have began to estimate and love people by the things they possess and we do not love again with the love of the Father. Yes, it is definitely because the two kind of love don't cohabit, the two cannot stay in your heart. The Lord is a jealous lover and so it will remain, His jealously is His nature and it is good for us.

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." - Matt 6:24

The things that we permit to serve rules our disposition and becomes a master to us, God gave us dominion over everything including sinful pleasures, but these things have in turn dominated us and has caused our love to be cold.

If you are given a chance to measure it yourself, you will find out that your love is increasingly decreasing for God and your affection for things is steadily increasing. It is through the love of things that lawlessness will abound.

It wouldn't have been a problem for God if it things will keep us lawful, it wouldn't have been a problem if these things don't consume our love...but over the years, it has been proven that no one can serve two masters, this is the reason why your love is either increasing or decreasing as it is.

YOU LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE
"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love." - Rev 2:4

To leave the one we love is to leave someone out in the cold. Although God is the epitome of love and we cannot say He is lonely, but a proper comparison to we humans, will make us conclude that one who abandons is a betrayal of trust.

We loved God at a time so He started blessing us with things, He only request that we be faithful, loyal and honest, but these things He blessed us with are the very snare that has led many into lawlessness. Some too have become uncontended and they have made their love for the Father cold.

It is not a small matter anymore that you have started reminiscing about your love affair with God as if it is a work experience that you acquired. You have started talking about your past commitment in the house of God as if you are separated from Him now. Brother, check your heart and measure the temperature of your love.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." - 1John 4:18

You will feel guilty because your love for Him is not perfect, you will fear His wrath because you know your love is waxing cold. This end-time spirit has robbed many of their love for Christ and it is indeed a pity.

Don't disregard the conviction of the Holy Spirit this moment, if you do, you will be hardening your heart the more and yes, you will be more enslaved in the futility of possessing things.

NO ACTION IN YOUR LOVE
"If you love Me, keep My commandments." - John 14:15

To keep the commandment is to keep exercising the love of God to remain sizzling hot. The love we have must move us to act in obedience all the time. We must perform that we have heard to be in love with God.

Lyrics that sound like blues can fly everywhere, but that is just worship and it may not primarily mean we are in love. Your love is rooted in your level of obedience and the earlier you understand that, the better for your relationship with God.

I'm talking about evangelism here, yes I'm referring to commitment, of course it's about your work in the house of God. Have you become ashamed? Are you now checking schedule to accommodate God in your life? Is your ministry now 'part-time', that you only do at your convenience. Check your heart and tell yourself sacred truths so you won't freeze out in the cold of ignorance.

"So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?' He said to Him, 'Yea, Lord; You know that I love You.' He said to him, 'Feed My lambs.'" - John 21:15

Jesus wasn't asking for a reply of words but action of affection, your words don't mean nothing if your actions means a nothing! Feed my Lambs. To be in love with God is to walk in obedience.

Don't become evasive to this truth, don't claim ignorance as if the world is perfect and law abiding. Jesus has rightly predicted the temperature of our love for this time, you will just do well to make amends.

CONCLUSION: If you check your heart now, and compare with the things of the world, is the love of the Father still alive? Or have you left your first love, if you say yes that the love abides and say no, that you haven't left...please let your actions show that your love isn't cold.

God bless you and I love you.
