PRECAUTIONS OF THE SPIRIT

"Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come." - Matt 12:32 The person of the Holy Spirit is unique to the believer, before Jesus, the person of the Spirit wasn't so understood as Jesus has made Him to be. After the the Word became flesh and dwelt among men, the Spirit started dwelling not just among but within us so as to make the Word (Jesus) visible among men. The introductory scripture has been subject to a lot of arguement and controversies in Bible studies and at different places. Honestly, one may not be able to fully understand the context or interpretation of this statement, but we can be sure of some things that; the Holy Spirit is not superior in the Godhead, there is really no sin that cannot be forgiven. In fact, I believe that if Satan repents today (I doubt if I can); God still has enough mercy to forgive Satan....

DON'T TAKE YOUR SPIRIT FROM ME

"Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me." - Psalm 51:11 The presence of God in a man's life is equal to the Spirit of God dwelling in that person, as the presence and Spirit are often implied interchangeably or together most times. The person who has erred run the risk of losing the Holy Spirit. It would really be disastrous for a Christian to lose the presence of the Holy Spirit. A Christian who has lost the Spirit of God is more dangerous than an unbeliever. The Spirit of God is a priceless possession that every believer should cherish as the Holy Spirit is the major distinguishing factor in our lives. It is through the Spirit of God that we become Christ ambassadors. It is through the Spirit of God in us that we can truly know how to pray, it is through this same Spirit we are convicted when we do wrong. For the Spirit to be taken away, we must have grieved the Holy Spirit, for the Spirit to be taken away we must have...

THERE IS A SPIRIT IN MAN

"But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty  gives him understanding." - Job 32:8 Just because man is a spirit who has a mind/soul and dwells in a body does not mean every man has the same spirit. The spirit in man defines a man in all dimension and his disposition. The spirit in man is the core factor that makes his person, if the spirit that resides inside a woman is the kind that existed in Jezebel of old, such a woman would be a seductress, who trap people into fornication (Rev 2:20) The fruits that we exhibit with our life can be a pointer to the spirit that dwells inside of us, sometimes, we are determinants to the kind of spirit that resides inside of us, we become landlords to spirit as we permit them in our lives. Addiction is a function of a spirit at work, no matter the form of addiction, be it sexual, smoking, alcoholism and the likes, it is a spirit in man that keeps them bound. For the purpose of this study, I will by grace just ...

BOW DOWN AND WORSHIP

"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named." - Eph 3:14-15 The act of bowing can be act of adoration or a succumbing to a higher power. It is not for religious affiliation as we often think, but it comes more from an attitude rather than a religious matter. If I bow to pray, it doesn't mean that I am of the muslim faith, if I bow in worship it is more of awe than a routine. We must have an understanding of some spiritual exercise so as not to become dogmatic and lacking understanding. We must also refuse to bow to idols which have come in different versions and forms in our time. We must not bow to pressure to compromise or to sin against our God. We may not bow heads but once we fall into temptation via any form of pressure, then we have bowed to an unknown god. Let's therefore stop all the hypocrisy that comes with routine kneeing in form of worship. If your heart is not...

OFFENCES

"Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!" - Matt 18:7 An offence occurs when there is a violation of the law or certain predefined stance on issues. One can be said to be an offender when a person disrupts or distorts a given principle or views of an organisation or person. Many things abound that surely offend our views or ways of life, we are constantly offended by the adverse moral view of the western world, we are often offended by religious view that doesn't align with ours...issues, philosophy and orientation are sources of offenses in our time. We cannot avoid being offended by these things yet we must also beware of becoming an offender in like manner. The clamour for 'live and let live' will not even take offenses away, sometimes it is difficult to be quiet when something violates our religious stance, to be quiet will be to consenting, while if one is not careful, such a one beco...

PERFORMANCE OF THE WORD

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it" - Isaiah 55:11 The Word of God is condemned to perform at all time and in all places where it is demanded to perform. Anyone who is wise will know that the Word of God is a movie acted by God Himself. God is the major actor of the Word and we all of the faith have a perpetual benefit to be audience of the performance of the Word. Heb 4:12 explains to us that the word is quick and sharp, it explained that it can break and cut...so it is of great insight to note that the Word is not static, the script that it acts on, is the little book we call the Holy Bible. In every performance, there is an audience, there's a director and of of course the stage by which the Word can performs. This piece will by God's grace try to draw your imaginative prowess to see the Word as a performing agent rat...

JUST ONE THING

"What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be numbered." - Ecc 1:15 Just one thing could be the missing link to make everything complete, just one thing missing could render a whole lot useless and meaningless. The missing link in our lives could be many, yet most people can sum it up to one thing and that could be the centre of their life pursuit. To some, vision could be what is missing, yet it will make life a whole lot better. If only we all knew that one thing that would make our lives perfect, if only we could recognise that one thing that is missing, if only we knew that one thing to do; then we can pursue it with all zeal. There are lots of 'one thing' in people's lives that is missing, some joy is missing, to some satisfaction is lost, some thought money will be a substitute for peace yet they have just realised that it doesn't fill that one thing. What is lacking indeed cannot be numbered. ONE THING YOU LACK "...

WHEN THE MINISTER IS IN TROUBLE

"Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you." - Matt 17:27 The above scenario was intended to embarrass Jesus. The devil thought since Jesus didn't have any cash with him, he would use the opportunity to embarrass our Lord. Though Jesus was not suppose to pay tax yet they wanted to paint Him as a tax evader! Dear minister of God, the occasion the devil intends to embarrass you with, are occasions to show God's power. There are times when it will seem that the minister is in poverty, there would be times when sickness may ravage your family; but please know that it is an occasion for God's glory. Peter's mother in law was lying sick at home, yet he went about with Jesus healing the sick while sickness was in his house, many would have made jest and it is possible that you're i...

HANDWRITING

"See, I have inscribed you on the palm of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me." - Isaiah 49:16 Writing is an attribute of God, writing didn't start with men...it started with God. Our handwritings sometimes serves as our identification. It is possible to recognise a person by their writing, although technology is gradually taking manual writing out of the way...but some of us know that our handwriting, can even serve as biometric identification. This piece will attempt to take a look at the act of handwriting and what it implies at different stages. We would identify who wrote what and what message is passed through the fingers of these writers. If nothing was written, the memory will surely not be sufficient, conflict will be unending, proofs will be unreliable and many more distortion. GOD'S HANDWRITING "Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets." - Exo 32:16 Can I make known...

BIBLE COMPREHENSION

"And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures." - Luke 24:45 Many have become word pundits and English teachers, just because they want to explain the scriptures...when the understanding of a scripture is not opened to a person, he shows excitement over chaff. In recent times, I have come to align with the fact that if any so called 'rhema' does not have a practicable application upon my life, then it is of no use; because it wouldn't matter what you know when what you know does not matter. A person's ability to comprehend the scripture is solely based on the Holy Spirit and not Greek versions and other versions (I'm not in anyway condemning their usage, as I use them as much as grace permits). It is just that it is an error to think that Scriptures quoted in another form to excite you and increase your knowledge or your ego by extension is rhema. Any word found, that doesn't deliver the promise, any word found t...

CONDITIONS TO ENTER THE KINGDOM

"Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." - Matt 6:10 Any believer who doesn't desire the kingdom of God is definitely lost to the earth. Although, we are suppose to seek relevance here as children of the kingdom; our utmost desire and longing should be for that home up above. It is possible to experience the power of the kingdom of heaven here, yet the powers seen here are no substitutes to the home up above. We must desire to be in heaven. While Jesus painted many illustrations of the kingdom like one who finds a field full of gold and went to sell all he has, yet Jesus in clear terms gave few conditions of entering the kingdom and these are no suggestions but pre-requisites for anyone. Until they are met, your eternal life hangs on the balance. I am not in anyway ashamed of this topic, because of the way it is impressed on me today. The reason why we are so comfortable over here is because we haven't caught a glimpse of the kingdom...

CALLED BY YOUR NAME

"Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." - Jer 15:16 Every true believer who is indeed regenerated is called by the name of the Lord. It is hard for that true Christian to be detached from the name of the Lord. The believer who has been saved actually ran into the name of the Lord according to Prov 18:10 and was saved. We receive a covering when His name becomes a form of identity for us. You who have been called by the name of the Most High, have you represented the name well? Is the reputation of His name declining in you, or is the effectiveness of his name waned in your life. "I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." The world is not suppose to know me better, than by Your name, Your name O Lord must not come to disrepute, the powerful name must work wonders, it must open doors and it must make everyone bow at its demand. They gave the d...

LORD, YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU!

"He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' And he said to Him, 'Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.' Jesus said to  him, 'Feed My sheep.'" - John 21:17 Our love can never outweigh His, our service sometimes can be hypocritical, our commitment seem divided and loyalty the Lord has often questioned. But please Lord... I am sure I love you. When the Lord puts the question of loving Him before us, it doesn't mean that He needs love to survive, it doesn't mean He is insecure, how can One who is Love Himself be insecure about love. But, anytime He puts this question of love to us, it is a checking of our well-being. Peter said 'Lord You all things, You know that I love You'. This in itself tells that God is the confirmer of our love and not we ourselves. If you're the only one that say you love Him then the...
