LORD, YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU!
"He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' And he said to Him, 'Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed My sheep.'" - John 21:17
Our love can never outweigh His, our service sometimes can be hypocritical, our commitment seem divided and loyalty the Lord has often questioned. But please Lord... I am sure I love you.
When the Lord puts the question of loving Him before us, it doesn't mean that He needs love to survive, it doesn't mean He is insecure, how can One who is Love Himself be insecure about love. But, anytime He puts this question of love to us, it is a checking of our well-being.
Peter said 'Lord You all things, You know that I love You'. This in itself tells that God is the confirmer of our love and not we ourselves. If you're the only one that say you love Him then there is a problem, He has to confirm that indeed You love Him.
The prove of Your love for Him is in the things You do for Him and not the things You say. The Lord will not take poetry as a substitute for love.
He is love and that tells us that, as the Lord lives, the whole universe will feel His love. He can't be anything else but Love.
But has He confirmed your love for Him?
LOVE POURED OUT
"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." - Rom 5:5
Every relationship we have with God is an experience of His love. There is nothing that proceeds from the Father that is not motivated by love.
His chastening, His mercy, His wrath, His peace and everything we experience from the Father in our walk here on earth is precipitated upon love.
This love of the Father has reached us, we therefore who have experienced His love have no other choice really than to love Him back.
If we exhibit the nature of love that we got in Him to others, He will confirm our love for Him. If we begin to live to please Him then He will confirm our love.
This love wasn't dropped, it was poured, an immense measure a large quantity and indeed there is no other choice than to love.
The Holy Spirit that He gave only brought us into a deeper love affair with Him, we share intimacy because the Holy Spirit is an intimate being.
Your gift of the Spirit will be useless if love doesn't come forth from you, your love for the Father will be in doubt if love is not the motive of your showing of gifts.
"Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." - Luke 7:47
Why wouldn't I love? The sins You took away weren't little, the guilt You took away was the greatest burden, I love You because the height of Your love granted me forgiveness.
The Lord will doubt your love if you think Your salvation isn't a big deal. If you are ungrateful about the mire He took you from, then He will doubt Your love. If you criticise the mercy He shows to people, then He will doubt Your love.
The loved is poured to us in forgiveness, How come you have underestimated His own?
INSEPARABLE LOVE
"But Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'" - John 6:68
It wasn't just in John 21 Peter had told the Lord He loved Him, he was close to Him and was telling Him that, at this instance of John 6:68, 'I proved my love'.
The Lord will doubt your love for Him, if you aren't by His side all the time, when others left, did you leave? The Lord will ask you about your love, if you cant forsake all for Him.
The love we have received from the Father keeps us with Him. The love we experience from the Father must be our staying power, the love we receive is the guarantee of our future.
But the Lord doubts our love when we decide to flirt with distractions, the Lord will doubt our love when we doubt His love. But hello, dear friend...the Lord's love should make us inseparable with Him.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Rom 8:38-39
Anyone who knows of His love will affirm its inseparability, anyone who have seen the depth of His love will profess its genuineness.
Don't be fooled the reason you stray is because you have experienced little.
Let us experience the love of the Father in the personality of Jesus Christ His Son. We will give in to His love, if will observe His life and follow after His nature.
Loyalty is a prove to Him when He ask us about His love!
WHY I LOVE YOU
"We love Him because He first loved us." - 1John 4:19
We own no credit for loving Him, He is the initiator or originator of love. If His nature is not love, the world will never know anything to be love.
Even our claim of love to Him is because we got to know Him. No one can claim to know how to love without experiencing God! The reason why we love is because He permitted it.
Do not think you can love Him better, do not think you can express it better - because the depth of the Father's love to us is unsearchable, the height of His love to us is unattainable, we can only say we love Him because our little hearts have been filled with His love!
"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." - Deut 6:5
We will also do well to understand that we love Him because it is a commandment. If we take this commandment seriously, we will experience heaven on earth.
Our love may not measure up to what He expects, but I also know that genuine love expressed, no matter how little is graciously accepted.
Conclusion: The Scripture says in 1John 3:18, that we shouldn't love in words only or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
If your love is genuine, though you stray, the love will pull you back.
God bless you
