WAITING FOR MR RIGHT
"But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept." - Matt 25:5
I know that the above scripture mainly talks about expecting Jesus who is the bridegroom of the church, but one cannot ignore the fact of relationship or be out of context if there are lessons to be learnt by singles from the above illustration. In fact, it would be injustice or so, to confine the profound lessons of the above illustration to just the second coming - when we can actually glean wisdom from it.
When a female is 'ripe' for marriage, I use the word 'ripe' in the context of ready to marry, because it is the word we are accustom to in this part of the word. When a lady is ripe for marriage, there are many anxieties to the event, some features starts to play out from the woman, she becomes so expectant as she also have what she is looking out for in her would be husband - but while it is possible that she knows what she wants and that God may have revealed her preferred kind of husband to her - she may never know the time when he will show up.
What if your bridegroom is delayed will you like the virgins sleep off, sleep appears to be as a state of being indifferent, a state of just being careless about your consecration, a state of leaving your expectation to fate, or you start experimenting. And even when the bridegroom is delayed, will your oil run out, will you become a backslider just because you are desperate for a husband? Will you sleep yet trust that one day he will come - and when he comes, will that Mr Right find you right? He will find you right if there is still oil in you - He will find you right, if Mr Right meets you where you are suppose to be.
Maybe, just maybe your bridegroom is delayed - have you stopped trusting God? How you wish you knew the day of Mr Right's arrival, but truthfully only God knows when the right man will appear. No one can mistake Jesus when He eventually comes, but the exact He will come no one knows. Many of you have started receiving false Mr Rights and you are deceived - I am vey much constrained by the Holy Spirit to make known to you that Mr Right will show. When Mr Right comes, you will know - but no one can tell the time.
I really hope that you understand and that you are able to read between the line to glean wisdom for yourself with this beautiful story. Let me also add that I really do not know what is delaying your Mr Right, but God makes everything beautiful in its time.
JUST ANY GROOM WILL DO FOR SOME
"Now the firstborn said to the younger, 'Our father is old, and there is no man on the earth to come in to us as is the custom of all the earth. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.'" - Gen 19:31-32
When a lady is approaching the age of 30, she presses the panic button then start to soft pedal on the Mr Right she has always expected or dreamed of. These daughters of Lot had issues and one would think that God saved them from disaster when their father offered them to perverse men the other time - but this event showed that they were actually bent on the path of destruction, they needed men desperately.
You see these daughters of Lot, they had fiancee(s) because Lot called them when they were about leaving Sodom, but those ones too were perverse men. For now I am interested in the daughters who wouldn't object to their fathers selling them to homosexuals, just because they wanted men. This phenomenon plays out today with our ladies, they won't wait for Mr Right to be ready before they look for other options. Lot's daughters already had suitors but maybe the suitors are still hustling to get established, the daughters got impatient like we often see today. When the suitors weren't ready, they decided that their father was their Mr Right.
Another matter of note for many eligible and ripe ladies today is that, they had to make their father drunk to get pregnant. When some beautiful virgins have waited and Mr Right is not showing up, they become frustrated and because they do not have any oil - that is, healthy relationship with God, they begin to settle for less of what God has ordained for them. They settle for smokers, drunks, and lose men, some may have had the men pretend as good men, but because they lacked oil in their vessels, they also will lack discernment to see beyond what the man acts to be. It has gotten to the point where men would not marry a lady until they are pregnant - what nonsense.
"And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem's house, and went out." - Gen 34:26
Until this your 'Mr Right' is lawfully wedded to you, he is not your husband. We are in the time where co-habiting is making sense to our collective sensibilities, we do not see anything wrong in two adults living together, this abnormality turning normal is even obtainable in campuses and we just want to overlook the nonsense - it is an error. It just makes Mr Right all wrong.
When the brothers of Dinah were grieving that someone is taking advantage of their sister, the Dinah girl was there thinking to herself that she has found a husband. Instead of the Mr Right's people to marry you from your house, they are actually coming to marry you from his house. You are continually raped yet you think because he is flaunting marriage you are ok. When the brothers were grieving, the stupid Mr Right was busy flaunting 'I will marry her' in their face. What a shame!
You cannot give yourself in marriage, the consent of your family must be sought before you go and cohabit with anyone. Maybe the jesters are even right, and we need to tell that man to bring back our girls. One of the disadvantages of cohabiting is that your eyes are blinded, you are forced to take whatever you see, you cannot access anything correctly and you just start suffering before they even formalise your marriage.
MR RIGHT, PLEASE TAKE THE VEIL OFF
"So it came to pass in the morning, that behold, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, 'What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served you? Why then have you deceived me?'" - Gen 29:25
For that young man who is so interested in 'wife material', I hope you will not miss the right person all because you were with your limited mind looking for a 'house help'? When men will not involve God in their quest, they will find out that they married Cinderella's step sister instead of Cinderella herself. Some things are definitely beyond what your physical eyes can see, and if you will not involve God in your search they will exchange the wife for you.
If only Jacob had taken off the veil that night, if only you have tried to look beyond the Mary Kay, you will not be in the mess you are right now. If only you had taken time to pray before approaching her, you wouldn't be in this mess now, if only you had just allowed the Holy Spirit guide you - you won't be in the counsellor's office trying to find solution to 'irreconcilable differences' - think well now...you have laboured all your life to be a man, why marry someone who will make you less of a man. I see how Jacob would have looked stupid that morning with that lady beside him - and would have said; 'if only I thought it out well and not just interested in the sex' - don't let this be your story brother.
One of the things that I am sure of is that; Jesus is not confused about the bride He is coming to take, how come you are confused? How will you not be confused when your priorities themselves are confused. It may be too late when you later find put who you have married - divorce won't be an option, and you will just have to live joyfully with the wife of your youth. Be wise, she is beyond the face, she is beyond the shape, she is more than the human hair, she may be longer than the long skirt - there is a soul that lies within.
"Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away." - 2Cor 3:16
If she is not born-again, she definitely has a veil on, that is why you are adamant saying that she is better than the Christians who go to church. You don't know her and you are just there marrying a masquerade, she can turn to anything overnight and that will be for life for you, at least till death comes. In Jesus the veil is taken away, not on the wedding day, there are some things just beyond the physical and you will do well to understand that.
You see my friend, Judah was driven by his testosterone that he didn't bother to know that the prostitute he was about sleeping with was his daughter-in-law, and of course that sexual intercourse resulted in twin boys (Gen 38). It is allowed to be attracted to the lady, but Mr Right, you will do well to bring your body under subjection and see who is behind the veil.
Many husbands may not want to admit it, but their present wife is not the woman they had a courtship with, they just don't know the person beside them now, your ignorance comes to an end today, don't assume, get to know the real person. I hope the sisters also know that the men also wear mask - the heart of man may be wicked - so you have to discern rightly before he takes the wedding veil off your face. You may be unveiled but he may be masked also...be discerning enough.
WHAT MR RIGHT SHOULD DO
"He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the LORD." - Prov 18:22
It can really be frustrating when one is looking for something that is not where one kept it. The funny thing is that, the thing that is lost cannot by itself find its seeker. This is the situation many sisters have put themselves when they go ahead saying they are 'single and searching'. You are supposed to be found and not to be the seeker. Don't make life tiring for the brother please.
Dear Mr Right, at this point it will be important to sound it to you that, it is unfair to be looking for the right madam when you are wrong about many things, if you don't have a sound moral life, you will only be a source of corruption to the woman. Why should a lady lose her salvation on your account? Are you the devil himself? It is wrong to expect from others what you are not willing to become.
In fact, Mr Right if you show up when you are not suppose to show up, it will just be wrong all together, she is looking for a man to appear and not a boy...it is men who get married and not boys. I don't mean age, I mean your maturity sir...and please Miss, allow the boys to grow because you don't have to nurse children all your life...
CONCLUSION
When the servant of Abraham met Rebekah, it wasn't her age that was paramount, don't become unnecessarily anxious because you are thirty something...when Mr Right appears, it will be right and all will be alright.
God bless you and I love you
