WORD REGULATION
"Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." - Heb 1:3
Everything natural and even supernatural are all rooted and made firm in the Word that is from the beginning. It is the Word in action that results in power; if the Word does not trigger a manifestation; such a minister becomes an accidental performer.
When Elijah made a proclamation in the old testament stating confidently that; 'at my word', such a statement might sound of of place, but He spoke with the authority of heaven - and such held firm, the scripture tells us that we shall decree, a decree was what Elijah made in accordance to heaven's approval.
There can be no power without the word, to demonstrate power without understanding the word, is to be prone to errors and become a master of confusion. Nothing is more dangerous than a confused congregation who rides on what the pastor says and not what the word says. It is like breeding religious terrorists.
The things of the spirit do not contradict the word, if you cannot explain it, then make it a duty to do a searching, this is not to imply that we become critical of everyone and become doubtful, but it's just to make you come to terms that everything spiritual is rooted in the Word, an understanding of this truth will make you receptive of His power and a right discerner too when someone is manifesting in error.
JESUS-BACKED
"But Simon answered and said to Him, 'Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.'" - Luke 5:5
Anyone can pick or buy a Bible and recite every word in it; yet it may not yield anything tangible. There might have been encouragers who told Peter to continue launching his net into the deep, he didn't sleep at home and he continued without sleep at dawn, looking to catch fishes. He was frustrated and decided to allow Jesus use his boat...after listening to the message of Jesus - he knew that if there was anyone to obey, it had to be this Man. Jesus who is the Word made flesh only asked for obedience. He didn't speak the word, He was the Word personified.
It therefore points us to the fact the those who boast of Word knowledge without requisite obedience to the intentions and glorification of Jesus are actually playing and not knowing what they say. We must become conscious that even the miracle we seek must be rooted in the word and if it really does - a safe check is that it glorifies the person of Jesus and not the speaker's profile.
It is possible that we may not have attained such height as seeing Jesus as the Word. The creation and the existence of the supernatural about Him. It is not a matter of what you have found at times but who said it.
"The centurion answered and said, 'Lord I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed." - Matt 8:8
He spoke the word that moment and it became the word for us today, that Word the centurion demanded was not just for him alone, what the Lord says holds for even generations to come. That word he spoke is still valid till today, of course it was initiated or requested by the centurion, but it is available for you and me today.
If only we can identify with the Word personified, that is the person of Jesus - then the Word can be appropriately personified into our lives. The man who disregard the majesty of Jesus, will never be privileged to have the word work for him.
Let Jesus speak a Word to you today, you may have been searching too long, looking for a scripture, but it may just be that the Lord wants to speak it to you. Sometimes you will need to find the word that addresses your situation, sometimes, you only need Him to speak deep into you. You may have found it, but may not be privileged to sound it...Let Him speak through the pages you read. This can only happen with meekness of the heart.
The things He will say may be too simplistic as you may have used it severally, yet because He is the speaker this time into that situation; you can be rest assured that it will end in praise. Believe what He says.
SO POWERFUL IN ME
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - Heb 4:12
The man who talks about the efficacy and effect of the Word must himself have a taste of it. Have you been pierced by the Word? Has the Word hit you so much that you are broken in spirit?
We are quick to boast of its efficacy but very reluctant to submit our lives for the experience of the Word, as this word applies to the soul and spirit and not just situations.
Dearly beloved, at this stage, we must begin to regulate our lives in line with the powerful word of God. When the word deals with a man full of the old nature, it sometimes comes with pains. When the Word addresses a man full of lust and delivers the man, such a man is forever broken in spirit and in the soul. If you have not experienced it, how come you are boasting about it?
We cannot experience everything in the world, but the word can be an experience to us, for all things we would encounter in the world. Your life is a testing ground for the impact of the word. If you ignore this fact, you may move mountains, but your very life will be full of mountains.
"Then I said, 'I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.' But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not." - Jer 20:9
If your hearts have not been burned by the Word, you probably have not heard Him speak to you. Like those men who were on the road from Emmaus, they said to themselves, 'did our hearts not burn'; there is a fire that is ignited inside of us when we encounter the pure and sincere word of God. How I pray that someone understands what I am saying. It may cause a conviction, it may be for correction but the Word must do something in you.
A person who have encounter the Word first hand, knows that he cannot hold the word without sharing or without the word oozing out of him. There would be times, when a man who has the word will just want to be neutral, yet he will fail, the word will come out all the same.
I need the believer to start praying that his life be a test of the word, that the Lord be gracious to him or her, that the word be made flesh in his or her heart. The Word dwelt among us, the Word should now dwell within us. The Lord regulates His word within you and it is the measure at which it affects you that it reaches the world. If the word is cold in you; don't expect it to be hot when you say it.
WHO HAS THE WORD?
"And Jehoshaphat said, 'The word of the LORD is with him.' So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him." - 2Kings 3:12
It wasn't about the attendance of his church, no! It was not about how rich he was, no - there was a major factor for qualifying this servant of God and it was that the word of the Lord is with him. In our days, modernity is with the men of God, swags is with them, but you will need to have perseverance to identify them with the Word.
One of the serious yet amusing trend in the body of Christ now is preachers who always have a story to tell and history to cover it up...they seem very knowledgeable but they lack depth. This is not to take anything away from events to buttress points, but when it becomes a regular, they will remember the story more than the word. It is even possible that the preacher's tale are even from the scriptures.
If the Word of the Lord is with a minister, people can confidently approach the minister and they are sure that they will not run into errors. A minister who has the word is the gifted one, and the shepherd of the people. There is nothing a pastor should do majorly that should not have its root in the word.
"The Lord God has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakes My ear to hear as the learned." - Isaiah 50:4
When the words are not as the morning dew, the hearts of the people become duller, although this cannot be taken as the case everywhere, because the congregation is becoming more critical, but we must not fail to let the speaker of the word know the essence of timeliness and freshness as regards the Word.
The guards couldn't arrest Jesus because the words from Jesus arrested their hearts, and don't you start saying that's should be peculiar to Jesus alone - no!. He has given us a tongue and a mouth that none will be able to contradict or resist (Luke 21:15), the tongue He gives is that which is saturated with the Word.
Jeremiah found the word and he ate it, what you eat becomes your makeup, and a person who has possession of the word becomes relevant in the kingdom, that even the world's principles are regulated by the word in the person. The word comes to a person through hunger, if you are not hungry for the word, you won't have to chew any, even when you find the word.
The old testament tells us severally of how the word 'comes to pass' or how the word 'came to someone'. The word even moves - a spiritually sensitive person, that is hungry will not let the word just 'pass'.
WORD DISCLAIMER
"'Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,' says the LORD, 'who steal My words every one from his neighbour.'" - Jer 30:30
God honours His words anytime to perform even to the heart that believes, but the Lord is against that pastor who steals the word. I wonder the possibility of this but I think it is possible. A 'minister' who somehow is filled with knowledge but a stranger to God's presence could be a 'thief'.
God will deny those who are worded yet unholy, God will be against those who have high sounding words but deceive the congregation, God does not approve of a man who uses the word but lacks dedication and commitment. These set of people God places disclaimer on.
God is against speakers of the word and who are not doers of word, the effect of the word of God we speak should have a doing undertone, that makes it more valid. Jesus really didn't preach what He didn't practice, at least those that were practicable.
"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" - Matt 7:23
A shocker it will be for many high sounding ministers who have refused to regulate the word in their lives, they have done many things through the Word but nothing has been done in them by the Word. It is a total, 'I never knew you.' Not that they were once there, or that they absconded...no, what He will say is; 'we never met'. I pray that you understand this very important issue.
Though a user of the word, are you known by the Word or you are just a thief who is making a living and a name out of what you have read, that's copyright violations and you will surely suffer. The only way you can be on the right side is if you allow the word have its effect on you.
In Rom 2:21, Paul emphatically asked that, those who say do not steal, are they guilty of same? I'm very sure someone who is reading this has a lot of repentance and recommitment to do. It is better you do it now, or you risk a disclaimer.
CONCLUSION:
Jesus has to speak the Word Himself to you, for you enjoy its effect first hand, the word has to be regulated in you and then He gives you the Word. Anything apart from this is risking a disclaimer.
