THE NEED FOR STRENGTH
"If you faint in the days of adversity, your strength is small." - Prov 24:10
If a man boasts of his strength without a challenge, such a man is deceiving himself; as there has not been anything to test or prove the strength.
To the spiritual man who desires to stay in tune with Christ, let it be announced to you that the day of adversity is here and only the strong in the Spirit will be able to conquer.
We need strength to withstand the fiery darts of the wicked, we need strength in wits to outwit the devil in his schemes. The enemy ordinarily is stronger than the nominal Christian, therefore we must avail ourselves of the provisions of power made available in the kingdom to overcome.
At a time like this when the devil has given men pleasure to weaken, as he did Samson via the instrumentality of Delilah, we must sacrifice some pleasure and deny ourselves to gain strength for our inner man.
These are the times when the FLESH may even be willing but the Spirit is weak (sic).
You can't afford to be small in strength.
STRENGTH FOR THE TASK AHEAD
"Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him." - Luke 22:43
There is a task ahead of us and we must seek strength for our inner man to be able to pull through, any attempt to depend on physical strength is planning to fail.
Maybe you just started a walk with God and so desire to carry your cross and follow, let it be known to you today; that the cross requires strength and you need to be strengthened spiritually.
Jesus wouldn't embark on the journey of the cross, if He hadn't sought for strength through prayers. No one can do anything significant and of impact in the kingdom without first been strengthened.
You have a ministry or passion for something in the kingdom and you're not praying, how do you intend to withstand the onslaught of the enemy, who is going about making ambushes for you to fall and that the name of the LORD be blasphemed.
We are so obsessed with our physical strength these days that most of us have literally become 'vegetables' in terms of the Spirit. One important fact we fail to realize is that, when a man is weak spiritually; his physical strength becomes nothing.
It will take only sin in form of pleasure to expose the height of weakness in a man who is prayerless or has flaunted his consecration.
"But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion." - 2 Tim 4:17
Hello, there's something called spiritual stamina, Paul talked about the Lord standing with him as a source of strength.
Please don't take this matter of strength with levity as it will help you overcome adversity - nothing is surer than adversity for him who walks with the Lord!
It was an angel who came for Jesus while He prayed in the garden on that dark night, but for us, as it was the case with Paul, Jesus Himself is now our strength so as to be delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
PLATFORMS FOR STRENGTH
For a person who is involved in athletics, glucose may be the source for his strength to carry on when he may be weak. In the kingdom, there are mediums or avenue where we as spiritual pilgrims and soldiers draw our strength.
Grace:
"You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." - 2Tim 2:1
No one can claim to be strengthened from any other source apart from Christ who is the source of all strength, who makes strength available to us all by the grace He brings.
No one is also entitled to strength as a matter of right apart from this same Grace. To embrace Grace is to qualify for strength - and this understanding we must get accurately, if not, a person will be chasing after the wind.
Wait:
"But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31
I know the world is on a fast lane and there's no time to check time; but please would you slow down a little and walk on God's pace.
Would you take some time out of your busy schedule and wait for God's renewal to you.
You may have been strengthen to a certain degree before, but now you need to reinvigorate to be able to reach the destination.
If you don't have a waiting time for the Lord, you may become a casualty and end abruptly. Moses' strength was not abated because he was a waiter - why not also form the habit of waiting.
Knowledge:
"Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry our great exploits." - Dan 11:32
Exploits in the kingdom is underscored by strength, as exploits is based on the power of the Holy Spirit.
But for strength to carry out exploits, one would certainly need to have knowledge of his or her God.
The amount of God you know shows the level of intimacy you must have had with Him - and this therefore implies that strength is transferred through a searching out and seeking of knowledge of our God.
The person who knows God has authority to command the supernatural and harness hidden wisdom for exploits.
Joy of the Lord:
"Then he said to them, 'go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.'" - Neh 8:10
If joy is lacking, heads will be bowed and morale will be low - a person would already be defeated before even an assignment or battle. Therefore, we must always endeavour that the devil does not steal our joy.
It is strength to smile in the face of adversity, it is strength to rejoice in the midst of the wicked - because the assurance of the promises in the word assures everyone of victory.
Jesus understood the power of being joyful, therefore, He said ask that your joy be full (John 16:24). Everything Jesus gives us, they are to make us joyful in other for strength to reside in us.
His Power:
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." - Eph 6:10
We must get it clearly without misconception that what ever strength we use or is in operation in us; it is His power given.
When you're doing exploits, know that you are using the power of His might. When men say you're powerful, don't be deceived you're just a power medium.
You received power of His might because you allowed the Holy Spirit rest upon you according to Acts 1:8. The Lord's power resides inside you.
STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." - 2 Cor 12:10
Spiritual strength does not permit striving and boasting; spiritual strength is not vengeance or oppression to fellow humans. The strength we possess spiritually is not to call fire down like Elijah did upon your fellow human.
On the contrary, those who possess strength becomes fools for Christ sake, as He could have called down a legion of angels to resist and kill those who crucified Him.
Soldiers who brutalise civilians are weak men in temperament, anyone who can't show restrain before oppressing is weak.
Though you can call down fire on that person who abused you, betrayed you, cursed you and persecuted you, yet it is strength when you are weak.
"...for by strength shall no man prevail." - 1 Sam 2:9
The above verse in context means that we cannot be proving our strength with God who is the source of strength. We are often deceived to think we have enough strength to stand up to God in a challenge.
When we say we have faith, our faith must not be in arrogance of the strength we possess but in the submission to the leading of a higher power.
Strength comes with humility in the kingdom.
Friends, you need strength!
God bless you and I love you
