CALL HIS NAME

"And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD." - Gen 4:26

When will you start calling on the name of God in truth? This is not about the regular prayer or OMGs will scream at every place, calling on the name of the Lord will require a new phase of life. I do not know what happened from the beginning and why man did not call on the name of the Lord, but for the Scriptures to highlight such an event here is weighty and cannot be glossed over.

There comes a time in a person's life where they should begin to call on Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour, there should be a time when a situation will make us call God by His name. There definitely will be a time when calling on the name of God will sooth our souls and heal our pains.

Direction may be lost, confusion may be the happening, the name will regulate our lives. The name of the Lord is not an appendage for every wish, no! It is a valid expression of our fellowship with Him, little wonder that name is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and they are saved. Little wonder the name is able to deliver and to save.

If we do not start to call on His name, our sojourn on earth is just a wandering. After the fall of man, the purpose of their existence was lost, there was no fellowship, no intimacy, they were sent out of Eden and they just lived everyday as it comes without direction. Something happened with the genealogy, when Enosh was born, they began to call on the name of the Lord.

An encounter happened. It doesn't matter what your forefathers worshipped, it is of little consequences the circumstances of your birth, whether you were born out of wedlock or you are an orphan. If you would begin to call on the name of the Lord from now - you will get direction.

DESPERATE CALL
"And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 'Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!' So God granted him what he requested." - 1Chron 4:10

There are some patterns that needs to be destroyed, there are past we need to break free from, Jabez wasn't just in pains, he also caused pains. The mother would have wished she didn't have him, but she had him anyway. But this man decided to call on the God of Israel, he needed direction, he needed purpose and when Jabez called, he got answers.

Yaweh, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Rapha, these are His names, the situation we find ourselves should warrant us to call on His name, there is no limitation to the need you can call His name on. If only you would call His name. The story that was bad became good because Jabez called on the God of Israel.

I do not think that Jabez's calling was a casual 'OMG' no, I know within my spirit that it was an appointment  he sought with God. He had matters to place before God, He needed God to hear his petition, He decided to call on that God of Israel.

"Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out the all the more, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!" - Mark 10:47

Maybe his sight problem was hereditary yes, and possibly too they have asked him to accept fate, but that man called Bartimaeus decided to do away with the prefix of 'blind', He wanted to see and he called on the 'Son of David' for mercy. While some would have been satisfied with their position, this man had aspiration beyond his limitation, he wanted to see.

When will you look unto God for that situation, they have told you to use 'wisdom' without acknowledging the God who gives wisdom - it will end in futility. Let no one deceive you, your strength cannot take you far. Begin to call on the name of the Lord for help.

SO CLOSE
"Thus says the LORD who made it, the LORD who formed it to establish it (the LORD is His name): 'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'" - Jer 33:2-3

The things you do not know now is because you haven't called to Him yet, the person who will take time to call on the LORD will see what is hidden and move with insight rather than being reactive and directionless to every tide. If you don't call on the name of the Lord, this life will be vanity upon vanity, as it is the life without purpose that is vain.

The world is too vague to comprehend in your wisdom, the troubles of this world can be overwhelming, the pit of the devil are dug almost in every place, if you don't start calling upon His name, you may become trapped in the cycle of vanity. You may become lost in the wilderness.

I do not know but I sense someone needs to get out of trouble, I think a person needs rescue, someone needs to call Jehovah for help and it is indeed urgent. It could be as regards your salvation, it is possible you are fed up with life and you just don't get the meaning of life at all. You have been a victim of different circumstances and you are also trapped in the snare of addiction - call Father to come and get you.

" The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth" - Psalm 145:18

Your sincerity is key to a closeness with Christ, you must be honest and not be a pretender, truth draws God closer. In that state where you are, you can't prove anything to Him except you come in truth and sincerity of heart. Your past may be bad, but be sincere, your present may be tough, be sincere - even if it is hard to see a future - just be sincere.

Since you have been calling has He answered? Since you have been calling, what has He shown to you? Could it be that all these your prayers are not reaching Him or you may have been too distracted to notice His presence. There is something that fills us up when we call upon Him in truth.

Many people actually feel that God is a God afar off, they see barriers and obstacles so they don't bother calling on Him, see, why not call Him to come get you in that state, why not ask the Lord to pull you out of the dungeon - and you will be surprised to how close He is. The Lord is never far.

DID YOU MENTION HIS NAME?
"that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth" - Phil 2:10

Most times our arrogance is a barrier to Him answering us when we call upon Him. Some people want to 'use' the name of Jesus to solve their issues but they may not be willing to be in tune with the name. We often only need the name and we aren't willing to bow our knees. We know the authority of the name but we just want to use it as an appendage to our prayers.

Those who call on His name are also called by His name. If you call on Jesus often, people will also call you by the name of Jesus - they will attached it to you. When we call His name, we must also know that we bear the name!

There is no other name by which men can be saved except by the name of Jesus, whosoever calls on His name will not be put to shame; these are what His name callers should expect when they call upon Him. They must understand not just what the name represent but what the name does.

"Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: 'The Lord know those who are His,' and, 'Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.'" - 2Tim 2:19

There are two things involved when we call upon the name of Jesus, first - a notice, that God identifies His true callers, He knows those who are sincere with the calling of His name, He recognises those whose attitude are right, He knows whether you bear the name even with your life. The second thing involved is a warning - those who call His name must depart from iniquity. The Lord does not like sinners calling Him in vain apart from being for a reconciliation.

It is an abuse of His name when your life is different from the nature His name carries, anyone who wouldn't reverence the name should stop calling the name - it is not by force. Let the power in the name of Jesus do what you desire in His will. The name of Jesus is an asset to every believer and we must recognise it as such.

If you have the right orientation of the name of Jesus - it will yield endless fruits for you. The name is for worship, the name is for help, the name is to us a gift and we must take precautions of the name while we use it.

CONCLUSION: God has a name, the LORD is His name, when will start to call Him in truth? He is so close, so call Him for a change of story.

God bless you and I love you
