DOERS ONLY!

"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was." - James 1:22-24


One of the greatest tragedy of a man is self-deception, our churches are filled with people who are very very and very hungry for the revelation of the word yet these same people are terribly reluctant to do the word. This is nothing but self-deception.


It is possible to be a hearer of the word and not a doer, but it is impossible to be a doer of the word without first being a hearer. In fact it is good to hear the word, but what makes the word yield fruits has to be in the doing. We have come to know every root word of the scripture yet the word is not rooted.


How come there are strivings amongst us brethren, how come there is hatred in the church, poverty holds sway because we don't help one another. Moderation is not in our culture, discrimination is a clear thing. We know that the Scripture is against these, yet we do nothing to make it stop. We know the word but it is in the doing that the Word knows us.


Let us see to it that righteousness is enthroned through doing of the Scriptures, even if it will make us seem foolish, even if we seem backward, the doer of the word must be doing the word. We may not even need too much rhema if we do the simplest of things. Worship is simplified through the living of the word.


Knowledge is important, but knowledge of the word without application is a waste of time and destiny. The word must quicken us to do.


ENOUGH OF THE NOISE
"This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, 'These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.' And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, 'I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.' And he came out that very hour." - Acts 15:17-18


Many times when we are in church listening to the word, you can't help but hear the 'hmmms' and all different exclamations, I'm not excluded from this. But we need to be discerning enough to know that these things at times are a distraction even to the entrance of the Word in people's life. Sometimes it places the preacher under pressure to impress rather than demand the doing of the word.


We no longer hear the message of repentance anymore as we ought to, but that was the core of John the Baptist's message, even Jesus' messages too - 'repent for the kingdom of God is at hand'. All we hear is how grace makes us righteous without a demand of turning and repentance from dead works.


While almost all these messages are true and should be preached, we must not loose sight of the doing part of it, many just feel good about it. Sometimes the devil is just making noise through some spirit and the pastor now becomes deceived to think that is equal to the doing of the word.


"And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, 'Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!' But He said, 'More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'" - Luke 11:27-28


Dear preacher, would you for a moment insist that they do the word? Would you for a moment preach a word demanding them to do and not to shout. We don't need spiritual mockers in the church anymore, we need doers. It is important to start living the word.


Also know that knowledge puffs up, it is in doing the word that we put a check on our attitude. When we insist on the doing, yes - using the word to get out of poverty, sickness and all that is good, but it becomes perfect when we do the Word to show His character - doing the Word is evidenced in the fruits of our actions.


AT YOUR WORD
"But Simon answered and said to Him, 'Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.'" - Luke 5:5


I hear Peter saying, 'Jesus, it is because of You ooo'; yes and that should be the compelling factor to do the Word. It is because of the authority of the Author of this word, that we must be compelled to do the word. Sometimes, people will offend us and the Holy Spirit will pop up a Scripture in our minds and demand that we apologise to the person who offended us... Can you like Peter say 'Jesus, it is because of You'.


The Word cannot be and has never been for knowing only, but this doing that I am led to emphasize here is the doing that diminishes our pride, breaks our ego, and indeed the one that makes us peacemakers - O the one that makes Jesus real in us. I am not talking about the doing of 'I now know who I am'. That one is good but, we must now 'be doing what He says'.


If we pray for brokenness we will be doers, if will become simple hearted, we will be doers, if we give our all to Him, we will be doers. It is easy to do what will bring financial prosperity and bring relieve, but it is not easy to do that which will make us less in the eye of the world.


"But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" - Luke 6:46


'He is our Saviour', 'our dearest' and all those beautiful names we call Him in worship will be very real, if we do the things which He says. In fact, a 'worshipper' becomes a liar if the life lived is contrary to obedience of His word. If this doesn't sink in our hearts we will sink with this world.


The devil will never do the Words of Jesus but he knows the scripture. The believer should know the scripture and always do the scripture - this is a core difference. Our allegiance to Him places a demand of obedience on us.


In Mathew 7:24-27, Jesus said that the doer of the word is likened unto a man who builds on the rock and the storms cannot crumble the house. He also said those who hear and don't do are liken unto people who build on sands and when the storm comes, great was the fall.


Maybe that's why all these whatsup Christians have many unpalatable testimonies, they can 'rhemalize' and expose the word, yet instead of seeing humility we see 'self assurance in self' and not a 'poor in the spirit' person (I said maybe).


WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
"So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. But some of those who stood there said to them, 'What are you doing, loosing the colt?'" - Mark 11:4-5


I know that you will be opened to doing His word as long as you don't look stupid, you will do it as long as you are not questioned about your stupidity - it is necessary to know that sometimes we would look stupid in obeying. Or how can one explain such obedience in taking what does not belong to one.


But in that simple obedience of the disciples that day, lies one form of evangelism, 'why are you doing this' - I hear a response of the disciples - 'Don't you know Jesus? The beginning of all, the greatest'. It was conversion that made the man agreed to leave his donkey. Nothing evangelises Christ than simple doing of the Word.


Do not think the world will not question the rationale of letting go when you should be kicking law suits. Do not mistake that the world will not question the sensibility of being a peacemaker. They will, but because this Jesus has asked us to do it, we must and are bound to do it.

CONFESSION
I will do Your will, I will heed Thy Word, I will flow with Your Spirit, I want to be quickened by the Word. Most blessed Lord, let the blessings of doing the Word come to me Jesus.
